Spray foam insulation is an insulation and air barrier material that seals walls, floors and ceiling cavities against air movement, including spaces around electrical outlets and light fixtures and where walls meet windows and doors. Icynene & Accella spray foam insulation can provide an effective air barrier insulation to minimize air infiltration through walls and ceilings, preventing drafts, cold spots and energy loss. The performance of Icynene & AccellA spray foam insulation means that humid indoor/outdoor air is restricted from entering the walls & ceilings and condensing, thereby minimizing the possibility of moisture entrapment & build-up within the wall & ceiling cavities. This is conducive to preventing building envelope failure due to moisture damage.
Icynene & Accella spray foam insulation products include open-cell and closed-cell solutions which can be used separately or in tandem within a project to provide long-term thermal comfort and air sealing. Icynene & Accella spray foam insulation products are installed by extensively training and licensed contractors only. Some of our spray foam team has been licensed for uup to 10 years.
2 lb “closed cell” spray foam is an “all-in-one” insulation as it also provides an excellent air & vapour barrier. This means it does not require an additional plastic (or other ) vapour barrier for new construction or renovation projects in Ontario. It may also be used in unvented roof assemblies. It provides an excellent air & vapour barrier for attic floors in both new and existing homes and is a superior way to insulate ductwork in unconditioned spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
3/4 lb. “open cell” spray foam, although not a vapour barrier, is an excellent air barrier and very effective in reducing “sound transmission”
Studies have shown that up to 20 to 30% savings can be obtained by properly installing cellulose insulation in your home. By keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, cellulose acts as thermal blanket providing you with a comfortable living environment.
Cellulose is inherently green and one of the most ecological building products on the market today. Made from 100% post consumer recycled newsprint, each bag of cellulose is made from a renewable natural resource. It is manufactured responsibly, reduces the need to cut trees, reduces the consumption for heating and energy sources by its superior thermal properties and reduces CO2 emissions from decomposition of waste in our landfills.
Thermo Cell Industries Cellulose Insulation; The product composition is 87% recycled paper fibres treated with non-toxic fire retardant additives. Has an R-value of 3.8 per inch. Design thermal resistance of 26.3 m2-kw-1 at a design density of 25.6 kg/m3. This product meets and exceeds standards as set in CAN/ULC S-703-09. It has Superior thermal, acoustical and fire resistant properties. It is Safe and Non-toxic. This product does not itch or irritate skin, does not promote mold, mildew or fungi growth and repels insects and rodents. It is affordable, pricing is similar to batts or loose fill fiberglass.
